Robert (Bob) P. Tedford

Robert “Bob” Peterson Tedford, 67, of Manchester, CT passed peacefully on November 13, 2018. A life-long resident of the area he was born August 31, 1951. Bob was a graduate of Ellington High School and Eastern Connecticut State University. He loved his family, enjoyed writing, spending time at Charlestown Beach, and spoiling his dog Cali.  

Many will remember Bob as a coach, mentor, a referee, or simply The Rec Director. For his closest family and friends, Bob was a supportive, faithful, and witty individual who gave so much to his family and community. Bob worked for the Town of Ellington, as the Recreation Director for 43 years. His dedication to the development of children through sports, arts and community programs has helped shape generations.   

Bob was predeceased by his mother Arden, father Bob Sr., and his adoring grandparents Dorothy and Gustav Peterson who played an integral role in his life and instilling the value to do what is right, always.

Bob is survived by his wife Joanne (Lennon) Tedford; his children Justin, Kate and her husband Mitchell, Kristian, and Shane. He is also survived by two sisters Kim Murtagh and Betsy Aho, along with numerous loving and supportive in-laws, nieces and nephews.

The family plans to honor Bob’s legacy by living a life of service.

Calling hours will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Manchester Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester.

The Funeral Service is planned for 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Center Congregational Church, 11 Center Street, Manchester, with burial to follow at East Cemetery.
