Mary-Elizabeth Ann Thompson was the daughter of Mildred (Vail) and Clyde C. Thompson and was raised in Hartford. Mary graduated from Immaculate Conception Grade School and Bulkeley High School.
She moved to Manchester with her sister Nancy 30 years ago and worked for Vernon Board of Education before becoming a long-time employee of Shop Rite on Spencer Street. Mary enjoyed the interaction with her customers, many of whom became lifelong friends because of her perpetual smile and good nature which will make her a welcome addition to our Lord’s House.
Mary leaves behind to mourn and miss her, her brother and sister in Law, John Thompson and Paula Haggan of Summerfield, Florida and her brother James Thompson of Berlin, CT, her nieces and nephews John, Andrea and Christopher Thompson and James, Christine and Patrick O’Halloran; her aunts Mary Bagot of Glastonbury and Nancy Howe of Manchester, a multitude of cousins and friends and her dearest friend Mavourneen Smith of Vernon.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Nancy Thompson and her Brother Clyde C. Thompson, Jr. May she find peace and comfort in the arms of our Lord and her family who await her arrival.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:30am at Manchester Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street. There will be a Mass at St. James, 896 Main Street, at 11am followed by burial at West Meadow Cemetery in Newington.
