Frank S. Young

Frank Sean Young, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Thanksgiving day at his home in Palm Springs, CA. He was born on October 1,1940, the son of the late Frank & Mary (Gula) Young.  

Sean graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1958. He was a graduate of the University of Hartford and Hartford Art School where he received his BS degree. Sean had done graduate work at the University of Hartford and in Terni, Italy, at the Sorbonne of Paris. He obtained a MS degree from the University of California. Sean worked as an art teacher in Torrance California High School for many years. He was also a summer travel guide for high school students and visited many countries throughout the world including countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He has had many private showings including the Ellington Ridge Country Club, the Phoenix Mutual Insurance Co. in Hartford and the Graphic Art Gallery in Springfield, MA. He currently had several of his paintings exhibited in a gallery in Cathedral City in Palm Springs, CA. Despite his many ailments, it was his art work that inspired him and allowed him to focus on producing many wonderful works of art. Sean was a compassionate and generous person who was loved by his family and many friends. He enjoyed working at the homeless shelter serving meals during the holidays. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his sister and her husband Nancy (Young) and Robert Taylor of Manchester, his brother Robert Young of Manchester and his sister Mary Ann Young of Marlborough. Sean is also survived by his many nephews including Robert & Lisa Taylor of Coventry, Andrew Taylor & Annette Templeton of Manchester, Michael & Susan Taylor of Vernon, Timothy Taylor of Manchester, William and Eileen Young of Coventry and his niece Eileen (Young)and David Mahoney of Hampton, N.H. Sean is also survived by many great nephews and nieces. Sean leaves many close friends in the Palm Springs area especially Jannie Orr whose friendship goes back to his teaching days in Torrence. Also, a special thanks to his aid Jim Huisman.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a time of visitation on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Manchester Funeral Home, 142 East Center St. in Manchester from 10:30-11:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St. in Manchester. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Desert AIDS Project, 1695 North Sunrise Way, Palm Springs, CA. 92262.
