William J. Cherko

William J. Cherko, a longtime resident of Manchester, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025. Son of the late Elvira Cherko and Stanley Goss, William was born on August 26, 1943 in Riverhead, New York. He was married to his wife, Linda Cherko (Bahorich), for 56 years. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor's of science in forestry. William proudly served in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant.  William worked in management for Agway, Inc and later as a sales associate for Home Depot. William will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and his love for Christmas.


In addition to his wife, William is survived by his daughter Kimberly Cherko and her husband, Jeffrey Orszak of Manchester; his daughter Sandra Cherko, of Manchester; his three grandchildren, Dylan Cherko and his wife, Dr. Madeleine Hagood of Deerfield, Florida; Jillian and Jeremy Orszak of Manchester; brother Raymond Cherko and his wife, Connie of Clayton, California; brother John Cherko of Beaver Meadow, Pennsylvania and several cousins.
