Susan K. (Curboy) Bachand, 83, of Marlborough passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, September 3, 2024.
Sue was born January 26, 1941, daughter of the late George and Shirley (Allard) Curboy and grew up in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. She married the love of her life, Fred Bachand, and they made their home in Marlborough where they raised their family. She attended hairdressing school in Worcester, MA and started her career at the Penthouse in Hartford, CT. She then worked at Cut and Curl in Manchester and ultimately spent most of her years at Roger's Hideaway in Glastonbury where she made many friends. She was an incredible gardener who designed beautiful flower gardens that could be on the cover of magazines. She loved antiques and spent countless hours in antique shops across Connecticut and Massachusetts with her sisters who were her best friends. She was a fantastic cook and could make anything from scratch. Her treats and holiday dinners were phenomenal and will always be remembered with fondness by her family. Her greatest passion though was spending time and gardening with her husband Fred who she loved with all her heart.
Sue is survived by her husband of 59 years, Alfred "Fred" Bachand, her two children, Sandra Queen and husband Jay of Hebron, CT and Steven Bachand and wife Jodi of Starksboro, VT; five grandchildren, Jocelyn Queen, Matthew Queen and wife Emily, Seamus Queen, Travis Bachand and fiancé Brianna and Danielle Murphy and husband Mike; her sisters Sally Curboy, Sylvia Theriault and Sandy Bennett; her brother Kenneth "Nugget" Curboy, all of Massachusetts.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by eight siblings, June, Nathaniel, Kenneth, Daniel, Ruthie, Jackson, Samuel Curboy and Eleanor "Barbara" Gee.
There are no calling hours and funeral services will be private. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider planting a flower in Sue's memory.
