Ronald W. Gess, 77, of Manchester, CT loving husband of 49 years to Mary Ellen (St. Germain) Gess passed away October 9, 2017. He was born in Coventry, CT on March 14, 1940 to parents William and Grace (Reed) Gess.
He attended Manchester High School graduating in 1958 where he subsequently joined the United States Marine Corps and served aboard the U.S.S. Lake Champlain. Upon leaving the Marines, he attended the University of Connecticut, and began a career in computer programming.
Ronald enjoyed coaching little miss softball, and was an Eagle Scout in Manchester's Troop 25. Ronald loved reading and following his beloved Red Sox.
Along with his parents, Ronald was predeceased by a brother, Robert Gess. He is survived by his children Barbara Gess of Manchester, CT and Robert Gess of Boston, MA; his sister Cynthia Brown and husband Gary, brother Richard and wife Beverley, brother George and wife Beatrice, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Manchester Funeral Home (formerly Watkins Funeral Home), 142 East Center Street, Manchester, CT. Services will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, 40 Pitkin St., Manchester, CT on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow.
