Obituary

Richard Larry Carter, passed on March 28, 2026, in Glastonbury, Connecticut, at the age of 81. He was born on November 22, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Andrew and Gladys-Murphy Carter and lived a life marked by service, steadiness, and quiet dedication to the people and places he cared about. He is remembered with respect and affection by those who knew him best.

Richard grew up in Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Vietnam era veteran. That chapter of his life reflected courage, discipline, and commitment, qualities that remained with him long after his military service ended.

After leaving the Army, Richard joined Aetna Life Insurance company as a line cook and progressed to the position as Chef and worked until his retirement 2000.

Richard loved ten pin bowling. It gave him a source of enjoyment and connection. One of his major achievements was having bowled several perfect games.

He is survived by his sister, Saundra Carter-Mounds, of Norfolk, England and her spouse, Aaron. He is pre-deceased by brother Kenneth Roy Carter.

Richard’s life began in Hartford and ended in Glastonbury, but the impact of his journey reaches far beyond those places. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and quiet pride. For all who were fortunate enough to know him, Richard Carter will be remembered with gratitude and respect. To leave an online condolence please visit www.manchesterfh.com
