Peter Moore Bushnell, Jr.

Peter Moore Bushnell, Jr. of Manchester, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Born October 3, 1962 in Manchester, CT; he was the son of the late Peter Bushnell Sr. and Carol (Starr) Bushnell, predeceased by his sister Debbie. Pete was born and raised in Manchester, graduating from Manchester High School in 1980.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 30 years, Deanne Bushnell; daughters Sarah Carbone and husband Rory, Heather Sumberg and husband Sam; his dog Jax; and his “grand pups” Sebby, Korra, Ollie, and Maggie. He is also survived by many cousins and their families.

In 1994 he became the owner and operator of Lapointe Automotive in Manchester, CT. He dedicated over 31 years to his business and earned the reputation of “Honest Pete”. Pete was the go-to guy with many of his customers, always taking the time to joke and laugh with them. He was proud of his business and the legacy he created. He was grateful for all his customers and the years he spent with the Manchester community.

Pete spent his summer weekends at Lebanon Valley Dragway where he raced his candy apple red 69 Camaro. His true passion was racing, where he lived life a quarter mile at a time. Both his daughters followed his love for racing and shared that special hobby with their father. He was always helping his girls navigate their cars, races, and opponents. Pete had also found a second family and home at the track. He made many life-long friends at the track and would have done anything for them.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 3 to 6 PM at Manchester Funeral Home 142 East Center Street, Manchester, CT 06040.

Pete’s family would like everyone to know how happy Pete was to know each and every one of you. He spent his life dedicated to his family, friends, business, and racing, where he lived with no regrets. We are so thankful for his customers and fellow racers who treated him like family. His legacy will continue to live on in our hearts, and we hope you remember him as he was.

As Pete would have said at the end of every gathering, “welll…” meaning this has come to an end.
