Lois Dorothy (Kluck) Feder, 93, passed peacefully into eternal rest with her family by her side on July 31, 2024. Born on December 31, 1930 to the late John and Julia Kluck, Lois was a life-long resident of Manchester. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1948 and was trained as a nurse at Greenwich Hospital, where she met the love of her life, Bill (William) Feder. After marrying in 1950, Lois and Bill returned to Manchester with their young family. There, Lois balanced raising six children and working in various positions in the medical field. She was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Lois and Bill enjoyed square dancing and are past-presidents of the East Hartford Square Dance Club. Summers were spent at Indianfield Campground in Salem, CT, where they were surrounded by good friends and family. Lois often could be found sitting on her porch with a good book, or cheering loudly for UCONN Basketball or the Boston Red Sox. For decades, Lois hosted Sunday dinner for the entire family, who all will remember fondly her lasagna and chocolate cake. Lois had a keen mind for the history of Manchester, and loved to reminisce about her days as a child and time spent with her father. She was a veritable encyclopedia of family history (not just her own) and could always recall who was married to whom, when they graduated high school, and who their children were. After the passing of her husband in 2004, Lois became active at the Manchester Senior Center, enjoying day trips, aerobics, mahjong and the companionship of many.
Lois is predeceased by her siblings Erwin Kluck and Gertrude (Kluck) Stoneman. She is also predeceased by her husband Bill Feder, her son Richard Feder, and her daughter-in-law, Evelyn Feder (wife of Roger). Lois is survived by a large and loving family, including daughters Gail Feder and Gwen Feder, and sons Roger Feder, Charles Feder and his wife Nora, Robert Feder and his wife Yvonne, and her sister-in-law Gail Schonning Feder of Wilmington, NC. She will be missed by her nine grandchildren, Robert Campanelli, Lynda Feder-Craney, Douglas and Jason Slater, Luke Feder and Stefanie (Feder) DeLuca, Eleisha (Pantaleo) LeMay and Daniel Pantaleo, and Travis Feder, and her thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Manchester Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester, CT.
