Linda (Martin) LaChapelle, 76, of Bolton, loving and devoted wife for 57 years of Frederick LaChapelle, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 18, 2024 after several years of weathering the devastating effects of cerebral amyloid angiopathy. She was born in Swanton, VT, daughter of the late Jeannette (Paquette) Violette and Robert A. Martin. Linda grew up in Rockville prior to raising her family in Bolton.
Linda worked at the Pratt & Whitney Federal Credit Union before beginning her decades long career in the Bolton Public School System where she worked in many capacities until settling in as a secretary at the main Bolton Center School office. Affectionately known as "La," Linda loved her work and the families, children and countless friends she made while serving the school community. These friends kept her spirits high throughout her illness.
Family meant everything to Linda. She worked tirelessly to ensure her family was safe, happy and healthy after having a difficult childhood. She, "Nana", was present at every sports game, concert, and event for both her children and her grandchildren. She selflessly cared for both her mother and youngest brother during their lives. Through everything she put her sunny side forward. Everyone who cared for her was met with a smile or a laugh even in her last weeks.
In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by her daughter Donna Lumia and husband, Rob, of Tolland; her son Scott LaChapelle and partner Johanna, of Belchertown, MA; five grandchildren Brian, Amy and Cameron Lumia, Drew Lambert and Georgia Greenough; lifelong friend Cheryle O'Leary of Vernon; sister-in-law Nancy Martin of Sheldon, VT; sister in-laws Mary Bendoriatis, Eileen Fuller, Judy Fuller, Margaret Yonika (John) and brothers-in-law Teddy (Jane), Jerry and Greg LaChapelle all of CT; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Gary and Robert L. Martin and brothers-in-law John, Clarence, Joey, David and Dennis LaChapelle.
