Lidia P. Tagle

November 24, 1934 — June 27, 2025

Lidia P. Tagle, affectionately known as Lidia, departed from this world on June 27, 2025, at the age of 90, in Manchester, Connecticut. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Born on November 24, 1934, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Constante Castro and Olga Rina (Digiusto) Castro, Lidia's vibrant spirit and nurturing nature were evident throughout her life.

In 1954, Lidia married the love of her life, Rene (Lucho) Tagle, and their union was filled with love and joy. The couple embarked on a new journey together in 1965 when they moved to the United States, making their home first in Brooklyn, New York, then West Hartford, Connecticut, and finally settling in Manchester, Connecticut, where they have been engrossed in their communities ever since. Lidia's dedication and work ethic shone through her long career at King's Department store and later at Bank of America, where she retired after 62 years of commendable service.

Lidia's life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to her family. She had a passion for baking and cooking, often filling her home with the delicious aromas of traditional Argentinean dishes and sweet treats. Her hands were rarely idle, as she found joy in knitting and tending to her garden. Reading was another of her cherished pastimes, as well as sharing mate, the traditional Argentinean tea, with her best friend Carmen Patino. Lidia was known for her world-famous pizzas and her unbelievable meatballs, which visitors from near and far would travel to see her for. “When people arrived for a visit, first thing was Lidia’s Pizza!”

Most of all, Lidia was known for her kind heart, gentle soul, and caring ways. She was always ready to help anyone in need, and her ability to nurture and love unconditionally will be her lasting legacy. Her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her wisdom, warmth, and affection.

Lidia's love story with her husband Rene spanned an incredible 71 years. She is survived by her devoted husband and their children: Eduardo O. Tagle and his wife Deborah of Newington, Connecticut, Olga C. Tagle Coelho and her husband Paul of Manchester, Connecticut, Jennifer M. Tagle Whitton and her husband David of Enfield, Connecticut, and Nicole E. Tagle McCandless and her husband Patrick of Newington, Connecticut. The joy of her later years was her great-grandchildren: Brayden McCandless, Cameran McCandless, and Emily Whitton, who will carry her love and memories into the future.

Lidia was preceded in death by her brother, Roberto Castro, whose memory she cherished dearly. Her absence will leave an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
