Frederick W Baker

Frederick W. Baker, 88, of Manchester, CT passed peacefully on May 5, 2025. Fred was born in Hartford, CT to the late Fred and Ruth Baker (Bensche) in 1936. Fred grew up in Manchester, CT attending local schools and eventually graduating from Manchester High School in 1954. Fred met the love of his life, Kathryn Kerber, during his high school years. Shortly after Fred joined the United States Air Force in 1955, Fred and Kathryn married in 1956. Fred served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1959.

After being discharged, Fred and Kathryn returned to New England, eventually settling in Manchester, CT where they grew their family to include their four children. After obtaining his Master’s Degree, Fred became a Professor of Math and Physics at the Hartford State Technical College until his retirement.
Fred was predeceased by his sister Brenda. He is survived by his loving wife of over 68 years, Kathryn Baker, their four children (and their spouses), three grandchildren (and two grandson-in-laws), as well as two great-grandchildren.

The family will welcome family and friends for visitation on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 9AM to 11AM at Manchester Funeral Home, 142 E Center Street, Manchester, CT. Military Honors and Burial will immediately follow at East Cemetery, 220 E Center Street, Manchester, CT.
