Elizabeth "Betty" (Sullivan) Carlo

Elizabeth Carlo, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on January 23, 2024 at the age of 92.  She was born on June 16, 1931 in Stafford CT and grew up in Hartford. She attended St Augustine School and was a 1949 graduate of Bulkeley High School Hartford, CT.  She married her high school sweetheart, Nick Carlo in May 1951 and moved to Vernon in 1958 where she lived for over 30 years.

She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Kathleen and Ronnie Joppru, Mary Beth and Steven Hoffman, her son and his life-partner Michael Carlo and Patricia Moriarty along with five grandchildren Scott Hoffman and wife Amy, Bryan Hoffman and wife Eileen and Kevin Hoffman and his wife Caroline, Amy and Julie Carlo as well as six great-grandchildren Katelyn, Emma, Claire, Hailey, Margaret and Alice Hoffman.  She was predeceased by the love of her life, Nicholas Carlo, her great grandson Dylan J Hoffman and her dear cousin Damion "Buddy" Bragdon.

Her love of the beach found her spending over 30 years wintering on Singer Island Fla.

She was an avid UCONN men's and women's basketball fan attending many Final Four events in Atlanta, Tampa, San Antonio and Nashville with family and friends.

She also enjoyed watching professional Tennis both on television and at the Pilot Pen tournaments in New Haven and the US Open in NYC.

She had a sharp mind and completed the newspaper crossword puzzles daily and watched Jeopardy every night.

She was a breast cancer and stroke survivor and had a strong Irish determination. She was full of fun and liked to go dancing and the movies. She enjoyed traveling to places with her husband across the United States and to Ireland and Italy.

Her life was dedicated to her family. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother and friend, she cherished her role as "GB Grandma Betty and GG Great Grandma spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren making countless memories with all of them. Our family memories of her will be with us always

A mass in honor of Betty's life will take place on Saturday January 27, at 11 am at the Church of the Holy Family Hebron CT.  Her family would like to thank the staff at the Village at Colebrook Hebron CT for their care of Betty this past year.
