Dorothy Ostrout

April 3, 1925 — October 31, 2022

Dorothy (Rybic) Ostrout of Manchester passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2022 at the age of 97. She was the beloved wife for 62 years of Elmer H. Ostrout Jr., who passed away on November 6, 2009.


Throughout her life, she instilled the gifts of love, happiness, caring and creativity into her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


She was a long-time member of Center Congregational Church in Manchester where she served as church secretary for many years. Her enjoyment in creating needlepoint designs and ocean themed jigsaw puzzles has resulted in a collection of work that will be enjoyed for generations to come.


She shared the spirit of adventure with her husband, which lead to a lifetime of family camping, international travel and the establishment of a beach home in Misquamicut, RI.
She is survived by her son, John E. Ostrout and his wife, Susan of Hebron and their children, Michael Docker and his wife, Trish and their children, Van, Sam, Shealyn and Chase; and  Kathryn Docker and her son, Travis Salois and his wife, Christina; and Thomas Docker and his wife, Cara; her daughter, Marnette E. Fritz of Westport and her sons, Ryan Fritz and his husband Mayson Linn and Tyler Fritz and his wife, Diana and their children Austin, Brody, and Parker; and her son, Lawrence J. Ostrout and his wife, Candace of Manchester and their sons, Alexander and Christopher.  She also leaves her niece, Suzanne Stewart and her husband, Bruce and their daughter Michelle Sharpe and her husband Brandon; and niece, Maryann Ostrout; and cousin Jane Baker and her husband, Bob.
