Obituary

Donna (Kasowitz) Rubin of Manchester, CT, died on February 6, 2026. She was born July 5, 1938, in New Haven, CT, the daughter of the late Nathan and Ethel Kasowitz, and was raised in West Haven.

She was predeceased by her husband, Martin Rubin, and is survived by her children: Burton and Sharon Rubin, Jon and Viviann Rubin, Paul Rubin and Alexandra Beltran, and Julie Rubin and Larry Hoffman; her grandchildren: Michael Rubin, Harry Rubin, Ashley Aziz, Sam Rubin, Clara Rubin, Morgan Rubin, Erez Rubin, Aaron Rubin, Marty Rubin, Joseph Rubin, Natalie Rubin, Molly Rubin, Eddie Hoffman, and Leor Hoffman; her seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Mark Kasowitz.

She graduated from Lesley College with a degree in education and taught elementary school prior to raising her family. She later returned to teaching and served for many years as the Principal of the Temple Beth Sholom Religious School in Manchester.

Donna was known for her kindness and optimism; her love of family, community, and chocolate; and her legendary holiday dinners, where there was always an extra seat at the table.

The funeral will be held at Beth Sholom B’nai Israel, 400 East Middle Turnpike, Manchester, on Monday, February 9, at 12:30 p.m.

Shiva will be observed with at 40 Masters Way, Manchester: • Monday–Thursday, and Saturday: 7:00–9:00 p.m. • Tuesday–Friday: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Weekday service times during shiva are 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Martin L. Rubin Memorial Fund at Beth Sholom B’nai Israel.
