Bruce Bissonnette, 82, of Manchester, CT passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024 surrounded by his wife and daughter. Son of the late Joseph and Irene Bissonnette, he was born in Worcester, MA on October 20, 1941. He married Elizabeth (Haggart) Bissonnette and together they enjoyed 56 years of a loving marriage. Bruce served in the Air Force for three years, the Army for one year and then the CIA. He graduated from Central Connecticut State University where he met his lifelong friend Bob Kaufman and then worked as an engineer at Pratt & Whitney where he met his wife. Bruce later worked for the Hartford Insurance Company for many years.
A man of many talents, Bruce spent the second half of his career as an entrepreneur. He owned a construction company building custom homes and additions and a car dealership which aligned with his love of cars. Throughout his life, Bruce owned many beautiful antique cars, loved attending car shows with his good friend Gary Berman and won many Best In Show trophies. He was a long standing member of the Connecticut T-Bird Club and had fond memories of his time attending those events. Bruce would always help others and volunteered his time renovating homes for disabled veterans with the Purple Heart Homes.
Bruce is survived by his daughter Andrea Bellofiore, son-in-law Tony Bellofiore, grandchildren Kaye and Alex Bellofiore and his son Jason Bissonnette and his girlfriend Deanna Smith. He is also survived by four sisters and their husbands: Janice and Victor Menard, Irene Perron, Pamela and Edward Schauffele, and Alexis and Dale Benander and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Penelope Nordborg and brother, Steven Bissonnette.
Calling Hours will be held at Manchester Funeral Home, located at 142 East Center Street, Manchester CT on Tuesday, October 15th from 9am till 10am, followed by a Funeral Mass held at St. James Church, located at 896 Main Street, Manchester CT followed by a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Glastonbury. Donations in his memory can be made to the Purple Heart Homes in Statesville, NC.
