Kathleen Mae Dargan, age 75 of Manchester, CT, passed away on March 8, 2018 at her home in Manchester, CT. She was born March 13, 1942 in Tacoma, WA, to Donald Thomas Dargan and Alice Harriet (Lichty) Dargan. Kat had an adventurous and independent spirit. Traveling, reading, gardening and spending time with her four grandchildren is what she loved most. She founded the local business, Scissor Kids, in Glastonbury, CT with her daughter Krista Assid. They owned and ran the business together for 20 years. Kat had a huge heart and a loving and generous spirit. Always seeking to take care of others before herself she was quick to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on. She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Society East (UUSE) church in Manchester, CT and found much enjoyment singing in the church choir. Passionate about the environment and keeping the Earth a clean and safe place to live was extremely important to Kat. She was a committed Vegan with the purpose of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and preventing animal cruelty.
Kat is survived by her two daughters: Krista Assid of Manchester, CT; Nina Ball and husband Mark of Frisco, TX; her daughters’ Father and husband for 35 years, James M. Ferrelli of New Hartford, CT; grandchildren: Ricky Assid, Dominic Assid, Olivia Ball and Adrian Ball; brother: Dennis Dargan of Eatonville, WA; sister: Patricia Herman of Edgewood, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00am at Unitarian Universalist Society East, 153 W Vernon St, Manchester, CT 06042.
