After a courageous battle with a series of debilitating illnesses, Karen (Smith) Beauregard of Manchester, loving wife of 57 years of George W. Beauregard passed away peacefully March 19th with her family at her side. She was born in Manchester September 23, 1940, daughter of the late S. Raymond and Gertrude (Knofla) Smith. Karen graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1958 and she later attended Central Connecticut Teachers College. Karen carefully balanced raising four children while working in the family business. An active member of Manchester’s Concordia Lutheran Church, she enjoyed lending her beautiful voice to the choir. She also sang with the MHS Round Table Singers and the Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale. Karen enjoyed spending her summers at Groton Long Point and boating in Mystic. She endowed her children with her skills in the fine art of finding the best restaurants and dining out. In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her two daughters; Sharon Shevchenko and her husband Eric, and their daughter Lily, all of Andover and Susan Beauregard of Middletown, her two sons; David Beauregard of Manchester, and Jeffrey Beauregard and his wife Stephanie of South Windsor and their four children Owen and Natalie Pelletier and Max and Jack Beauregard. She also leaves behind her brother Wesley R. Smith and his wife June of Glendale, Arizona. She cherished time spent with her dear friends Anne, Becky, Susan, Cheryl, Elin and JoAnn. Her burdens of the last year were greatly alleviated by her devoted companion and caregiver Leera Bakpo. Calling hours are Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Manchester Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester. Funeral services will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, 40 Pitkin Street, Manchester on Friday, March 23rd at 11:00am. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
